If I told you that I saw Abraham Lincoln, that we had dinner together, and that He told me some special things to share with the world, would you believe me? I would hope not.
Any sane and rational person would say that such a thing were impossible because of the facts. Abraham Lincoln is dead. Since he is dead it is impossible to have such an experience. Logic, not rocket science.
So... I have a question for you. I have MANY friends who believe a similar story, and you know who you are. I come to you in love with this, simply because I care. At least think about it, please. I don't care about the "religion", for I hate religion. I do care about you though.
Joseph Smith declared that he had seen the Father, and his religion is largely founded on this. His statement is a lie, for such a thing is impossible. Just logic, not rocket science. Here are the facts:

I know full well that I will not convince you of anything my friend. My only hope is that by me sharing the truth with you that perhaps the Holy Spirit will bear witness in your heart, bringing you to the Truth. Let NO MAN deceive you. The God of the Bible is made manifest within the Word, and if ANYONE tells you anything different be very afraid. If the very foundations of Joseph Smith's testimony is based on a lie that could never happen, what then does that say about the rest of the doctrine? He who has ears, let him hear. I am praying for you.
Religion divides, Love Unites, Lose your prejudice and exaggerate your love. The world will be a more loving place.
ReplyDeleteThere is zero prejudice my friend. The I have family that are Mormon, and I love a lot. In fact, it is BECAUSE I love them that I tell them the truth. I am not worried about making the world "a more loving place", but about being the light and salt of the world that a Spirit filled believer found in Christ is commanded to be. I HATE religion with a great disdain Mr. Wilkins. I am talking about Jesus Christ, THEE Maker, YOUR Maker, NOT religion. NOTHING BUT LOVE.
DeleteThe thing is, Mormon's can find the truth of the matter within their own doctrines. Many Mormon's have found the truth with just a little bit of research into their own belief system. I asked a Mormon friend once what he would do if he knew salvation was free. He paused, looked at me and said...I don't know. Then I altered my question and asked what if you don't have to do anything to earn it except just believing it's there. He said it sounded too good to be true...how do you know that you believe the right thing?
DeleteIt's because God has spoken to my heart. He has shown me things and led me places and if God speaks to me without this extra Mormon bible information...do I really need it? Besides...then I can get into historical and archaeological data surrounding the Bible vs the BOM and EVERY detail in the Bible is true. Can be proven with extra-Biblical sources, history, archaeology etc. The Bible called the world round even before we discovered that to be true. The BOM, in love I say has many false teachings, things that don't align with what we know to be true, locations mentioned that have not yet been discovered and proved to exist.
And why do they call it the "Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints" instead of the "Church of John Smith of the Latter Day Saints"? Why was Jesus so important that they used His name to label the church instead of John Smith?
Again, all in love. So many friends I just want to sit down and consider the facts that they have been provided...do a little research.

DeleteFear of offending someone keeps us from confronting a lie with the truth. What sense would it make to "all get along", knowing that by compromising the truth those I am "getting along" with are walking into hell? In the name of love, because we love, we MUST tell the truth. If a person is confronted with the truth, and rejects it, that responsibility lies with them and is between them and God.
